Your First Week: onboarding that gets people productive
A short, friendly module new hires take before day one. Who to ask, how things work, and a checklist for their first week.
Sample project · Harbor & Pine Outfitters is a fictional organizationThe challenge
Harbor & Pine’s new store staff spent their first day reading a 40-page handbook. By week two, managers were still answering the same questions, and new hires felt lost.
- Too much information, too early
- New hires didn’t know who to go to for what
- Key processes like returns were learned by trial and error
Our approach
We cut the handbook down to what matters in week one and made it hands-on.
- Meet the team: who to ask, and what to ask them about
- Put it in order: practice the returns process before doing it at the till
- First-week checklist that new hires keep and tick off
- Works on a phone, so people can take it before their first shift
